i made notebook covers for the kids i teach, hopefully it'll make the beginning of school a little bit more exciting!
and finally, a quick layout with a picture from my sister's graduation in june. i love how this one turned out!

scrapmatters template tuesday challenge

each week over at scrapmatters.com they host a template challenge. i've been meaning to participate for awhile and finally got around to it this week! the guidelines were: 1) use the template provided (duh!) 2) use a kit you've never used before and 3) YOU have to be in both pictures. i had a lot of fun with it!these pictures are from thanksgiving two years ago. at the time, i was living in richmond for training before i moved to mexico, but a bunch of my friends from training and i went up to stafford (where i was from) for the day. these friends are truly precious to me in a way that i can't even really explain. we experienced so much together in such a short time. and now? we're scattered across 8 different countries! i can't wait to see some of them in December for our debriefing conference when we all arrive back in the US!

Everything from "Moments" kit by Summer Driggs (available on her blog for free!) except: flowers (from the Weeds and Wildflowers freebie kit "In Bloom") and Alpha ("Wrinkled Alpha," also from Weeds and Wildflowers). The font is "Pea Missy," available at: http://www.kevinandamanda.com/scrapbook/fonts/

Some of this stuff I've had for awhile and just not gotten around to using (these are colors I don't use often). I was excited to have a reason to HAVE to pull them out. I guess that's why they call it a "challenge!"

"Delightful" Kit

i recently downloaded the brand new kit from Weeds and Wildflowers "Delightful," and it just that! I'm having so much fun with it. It's full of bright colors, great textures and all sorts of fun. Hurry though, it's only on sale (20% off) for a few more hours. And no, I'm not getting paid to tell you that, I just love it that much!
The first thing I've scrapped with it is Becky's birthday. We had so much fun that morning. She has absolute NO IDEA we were coming to take her out to breakfast (she thought she was going out with her husband) and was SHOCKED when she came into her living room and there we were! Becky is one of those people who is constantly doing things for other, so it was fun to surprise her and do something just for her!

i've been busy!

i decided to change up the design for my coffee mug before i printed it out. i put it all together today and it looks great! i can't wait to take my coffee with me to meetings this week!i also printed out some note cards. i made one for each day of the week and plan to keep my prayer lists on them. aren't they fun?
finally, i've printed out a couple of psalms. i'm constantly writing down bits of scripture and have index cards and post it notes all over the place. i'm thinking maybe i'll eventually print out a bunch of these and make them into some kind of book? or maybe i'll frame them all over my house when i get to canada. who knows. for now, they're stuck in my bible and devotional book so i am reminded to read over them daily.

note cards

i created this notecard today for a friend's birthday. i ordered a set of 12 on shutterfly and am really excited. her favorite color is orange, and i think she'll just love them! i used the "let's connect" colab kit that i got from sugarplum paperie (although i'm sure it's available several places). it's such a fun kit! i can't wait to do more with it. don't you just love all the bright colors?

a work in progress

last august i got a great coffee mug at starbucks that allows you to put in your own photos. i put a fun little design together with a few of my paper scrapping materials, but figured it was time for an update now that i've entered the digital world. what do you think? i still might try another before i print it out and use it, but i think it'll really make the mug a lot more fun!
i started this layout for a black and white challenge, but missed the deadline. oh well. i thought it came out kinda cute. i still may change it up a bit though. not sure yet. what do you think?

baby shower invite

my aunt is hosting a baby shower for her daughter-in-law and asked me to put together an invitation. she's doing a sport theme, which i think will be lots of fun! too bad they live in miami and i live in mexico!

...and it feels so good!

since i finished my Guadalajara album last month, i haven't done much scrapping at all. a few gifts here and there, but that's it. i don't have a specific project i'm working on right now, but tonight i jumped back into scrapping. it's kinda fun to just scrap for the fun of it with no deadline or anything. i've got tons of great pics from my recent trip to the states, so maybe i'll do an album of that? or maybe just of things that make me happy. this is a picture of my sister, emily, and i at a lake that i used to frequent when we lived in virginia. it always makes me smile to think of the many evenings i spent out there, laying on the dock looking at stars or the afternoons taking pictures with friends (and now with my sister).

Scrapmatters - Saturday Special #5

I finally finished my "short" Guadalajara album to take back to the states with me next week (I'll post some more of those pages soon!). It feels weird not to be trying to scrap every spare moment in an effort to get something together really fast. So I decided to participate in a challenge this week. We finished school on Tuesday, so I've had a little more time on my hands and was able to work on this for quite awhile. Hope you like it!

help!

album covers are the hardest part for me. anyone got any ideas for the book i mentioned in the last post? it'll probably be a fairly short book (30 pages or less) for the purpose of giving people a glimpse of my life and the city i live in. i have no idea what to title it or what i should have on the cover. i'm open to any and all ideas!

scrappin' away!

i've been hard at work this past week (longer than that, but i've been spending as much time as possible these past few days) on my latest project. i'm putting together a small (-ish) book that will hopefully give people a small glimpse of what my life here in mexico really looks like. there are pages for each of the areas we work in, a few shots of my house and neighborhood and various other sites around the city. we've got 2 teams coming in this weekend and i'll only have a week after they leave before i need to get the book ordered. i think i'm actually going to finish though! woohoo! here are a few of the pages i've got so far:

finished products

here are some pics of the gifts i made for the kids. bowden and landri's are on tiles and susy's is on a canvas. everyone LOVED them. maybe i'll make my own etsy shop and try to sell a few when i get back to the states?

up and running once again!

i'm finally back to scrappin' and man does it feel good! it's funny how much i miss that creative outlet when i don't have it (or don't have time for it!). i still haven't been able to recover all the files that i lost but i have been able to replace all of the kits i'd purchased. what a relief! i've spent the last week downloading and organized everything on my new hard drive (which is so great! and so SMALL! and has so much space!) and was so glad to finally scrap tonight. i worked on some gifts tonight and will try to post pics of the finished products sometime next week after they are given. i think they're going to turn out so cute and i'm hoping the recipients enjoy them!

sad day...

it appears that my external hard drive has crashed and burned. which means that, unless my friend jorge can retrieve them, all of my files that weren't also saved on my computer (including ALL, yes ALL of my digi-scrapbooking materials and layouts) are gone. i'm really frustrated. and praying VERY hard that jorge will be able to retrieve the files. i really don't want to have lost that much work. i had finished up to july of last year! argggg.

i'm just lovin' this new kit!

i recently downloaded the new kit by Britt-ish Designs called "Leave the World Behind" and i'm just loving it! i love all the bright colors and fun elements. not to mention, it came with 6 free quickpages (one of which i used for the page i posted yesterday). the whole kit was only $7 and came with 17 papers, 2 alphas, and more elements than i can count. if you want to get the quickpages with it though, you need to buy it before friday. enjoy!

Monday, March 31, 2008

woohoo, I'm to June in my scrapbook of last year! here's one of my sisters and i.

just me

i completed this layout for a challenge over at http://sunshinestudioscraps.com/blog. you could use any kit you wanted and had to include 14 facts about yourself. it sounded like too much fun to pass up, so here it is. everything i used is from the weeds and wildflowers kit "spreading cheer" except the alpha, which is from the kit "being me." hope ya like it!

Thursday, March 13, 2008

I'm working on an album of 2007. Hoping to have it done by June when I go back to the states. So far, I've finished through March. Lots of work left to do! Here's a little of what I've been working on lately. I'm still trying to figure out Photoshop, but I'm loving it!

Well, it's Mal here. And I thought I'd post one of the few, VERY FEW, pages I've done so anyone, but especially Kim, could see it!
I'm definitely just learning, but here ya go!

It's one I made for my best friend Kelsey Holt, with a couple of her senior pics. I'm going to use it for a layout for her myspace. :)

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! I don't know if anyone will actually read it, but more than anything we just wanted a place to post our creations so we can see what we're doing. I (Kim) live in Mexico, Em lives in Oklahoma, and Mal lives in Ohio. We haven't all been together since July '07, but we are planning a spectacular reunion in June! Hopefully we'll have some more stuff up soon. Enjoy!
